First edition. – Nasif al-Iazigi (1800-1871) lived and worked in Lebanon and Syria (both Ottoman Empire at the time) and was an important figure of the modern Arabic literature in the 19th Century, being part of the Al-Nahda movement. He was a Greek Catholic and most of his writings are theological. His son was Ibrahim al-Yazigi.
